Say hello to our Head of Creative
In the latest of our series of Meet the Team profiles, we catch up with our Head of Creative, Dan Spencer, to find out a bit more about his day-to-day life at QBD.
How long have you been with QBD, and what are your main roles?
I’ve been with QBD since 2019 and help with all things creative. This includes graphic design, building and designing websites, social media content, logo design and all things branding.
What did you do before joining?
Before joining QBD I worked at a number of agencies, all within the creative sector. I also ran my own business for a short while, and then joined the QBD team.
What’s your skillset?
I suppose the best way to describe it would be a weird hybrid of creative and digital. We work with a range of clients to create visual graphics that really bring their business to life, both for their website and social media.
What do you enjoy most about working at QBD?
The team is what makes QBD such a great place to work. Everyone gets on so well and we’re all able to bounce ideas off each other. The general environment is great too, even when working from home we all stay connected through Zoom and Teams.
Where do you live? Do you have family or pets?
I was born in Yorkshire, but now live in Nottingham. I have five siblings, which meant there were too many of us for pets as well!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy a lovely cliche mix of sports such as football and climbing. And, of course, digital stuff like video games, music and watching anime.
Tea or coffee?
Coffee absolutely tastes better, but I probably have more tea in a day. Too much caffeine is never a good idea.
Sweet or savoury?
Sweet. Surely everyone agrees that it tastes better?
Favourite food?
I absolutely can’t narrow these down to one option. Something with a bit of spice.
Ideal dinner party guests and why?
I think I want a friendly, cohesive party, so only nice people who can have a good conversation. No friction please…
Marcelo Bielsa – Seems like a lovely guy and has somehow got a Championship team competing in the Prem. What a Legend
Ed Sheeran – Talented and down to earth. He makes great music and sponsors a football club, so that works well with Marcelo
Keanu Reeves – Another legend who everybody loves. He still seems chill despite being about as famous as you can be.
Favourite music?
This changes every time I go to grab my phone.
Favourite film?
No clue. There are far too many to choose from.
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
It has to be flight, doesn’t it? Teleporting would be cool and more useful, but flying around would be great.
Quirky fact about yourself?
Not sure if it’s quirky, but I can wall flip, although it’s been a while…
