Say hello to our Business Growth Specialist
In the latest of our series of Meet the Team profiles, we catch up with our Business Growth Specialist, Jack Follis, to find out a bit more about his day-to-day life at QBD.
How long have you been with QBD, and what are your main roles?
I’ve been with QBD since October 2023. I’m responsible for attracting, meeting and working with a broad range of clients. I work in collaboration with our team of experts, exploring the steps our new and existing clients need to take to improve their online presence and, ultimately, achieve their growth goals.
What did you do before joining?
I worked as a freelance layout and web designer, but also ran my own canal boat painting business for several years, before refocusing on my design & marketing career.
What’s your skillset?
I’m first and foremost a creative, both digitally and with my hands, but my main skills include problem solving, communication and project management.
What do you enjoy most about working at QBD?
Other than working within an experienced team, I enjoy meeting all sorts of new people and learning about a broad range of businesses. I love surrounding myself with anyone who inspires me and the culture at QBD allows me to grow my skills and confidence through the different aspects of the job.
Where do you live? Do you have family or pets?
I grew up in Birmingham, although really I should say the Black Country, but I now live with friends in Nottingham. No pets or children at the moment, but I get my dog-fix through my best mate’s black lab!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I’m big into team sports, although injuries and physio don’t allow for as much of this at the moment. I’m also a board game lover. I read (mostly non-fiction) and generally get a lot of joy and energy from socialising with close friends.
Tea or coffee?
Hmm I do love my morning cuppa, but I’d have to say I’m a bit of a coffee snob.
Sweet or savoury?
Growing up I was known in my family as the ‘Pudding Man.’ But these days, probably more savoury as I have no access to my mum’s home baking, unless she posts it to me. Hint hint.
Favourite food?
Probably an array of South Indian dishes.
Ideal dinner party guests and why?
Haha. Princess Diana, Ricky Gervais and Ragnar Lothbrok.
Favourite music?
OK I can’t break this one down. But to give you a flavour, this was my Spotify top 5 artists last year: Fred Again, Muse, NF, The Cat Empire, Ludovico Einaudi.
Favourite film?
Wow. Let’s break this down into three favourite categories:
Action – Saving Private Ryan
Thriller – Shutter Island
Comedy – Coming to America
I’d always fall back on LOTR though.
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
I’d love to be able to stop time, so give me Bernard’s watch.
Quirky fact about yourself?
I once spontaneously danced on stage, along with my reluctant dad, at a Rwandan megachurch.
