Say hello to our Head of Sales
In the first of a new series of Meet the Team profiles, we catch up with Liam Maskell to find out a bit more about his role as Head of Sales and the work he does for clients.
How long have you been with QBD, and what are your main roles?
I joined the QBD team in January 2019 and am passionate about helping businesses solve technical challenges. I’m responsible for new business development to ensure our continued growth.
Day to day, that involves networking, meeting new clients and bringing them on board with our full range of services.
I’m also responsible for consulting with clients, understanding their businesses and their objectives, and then helping them to achieve growth. To do this, I work closely with the various in-house specialists at QBD to co-ordinate and manage their projects and ensure the services we deliver support the client’s strategy and objectives and exceed their expectations.
What did you do prior to joining?
I started my career as a freelance graphic & web designer, before becoming head of sales & marketing at a software development company where I further progressed my skills in web design, SEO and digital marketing.
What’s your skillset?
I work with a diverse range of clients and brands across the UK to help them get the most out of the digital products and services we provide. This includes managing projects of all sizes, from start-ups to well established brands, to develop a digital solution that works for the client and helps them achieve their growth objectives.
I come from a strong sales background, so understand the challenges that many businesses face and how we can help overcome them.
It’s then working out which services will best suit their needs, to help them achieve their goals quicker, whether it’s through a better website, marketing materials, branding and content, SEO, paid ads or digital marketing.
What do you enjoy most about working at QBD?
I love the diversity of businesses we work with. No two clients or projects are the same, which helps keep things interesting. It’s all about making a difference for clients by helping them overcome real business challenges, developing solutions to their problems and helping them achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
Where do you live? Do you have family or pets?
I live in the Forest of Dean with my wife, Hannah, and our seven-year-old dalmatian, Jimi.
Tea or coffee?
Coffee – either a Flat White or a Double Espresso!
Sweet or savoury?
Both.
Favourite film?
Not a huge film fan, but probably one of the Harry Potter films.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy travelling, playing golf, running, playing guitar and watching sport. I’m a massive football & cricket fan and a lifelong Liverpool supporter. I also support my local football team, Cinderford Town FC, where my Dad has been the club secretary since I was very young, and have seen them play at many grounds across England.
Favourite music?
I love most types of music from blues, jazz and country to rock and metal. I can’t get on with dance music or R&B. My all time favourite band is Velvet Revolver.
Favourite food?
Pizza & steak, but not together.
Ideal dinner party guests (x3) and why?
If it was a business dinner, it would be Steve Jobs, Grant Cardone and Robert Kiyosaki. For sports, it would be Tiger Woods, Jimmy Anderson and Steven Gerrard.
If you could have any super-power, what would it be?
The ability to be in two or three places at once. One at work and the other playing golf or travelling the world watching England play cricket.
Quirky fact about yourself
At 13, I became the programme editor for Cinderford Town FC.
